When a pilot light won't stay lit, flickers out under a draft, or fails to ignite the main burner at all, the pilot assembly is often the source. The Enviro PSE Pilot Assembly (50-3865) replaces the worn pilot component in the compatible Enviro G42 gas fireplace.
The pilot assembly lights the main burner and, together with a thermocouple, generates the small electrical current that keeps the gas valve open, allowing continuous, controlled gas flow to the fireplace.
If the pilot won't stay lit even after replacing this assembly, check the thermocouple — a worn thermocouple can cause the pilot to drop out as a safety cutout. Because this involves a gas component, installation should be performed by a licensed gas technician in accordance with local codes.
When replacing the pilot assembly, it's worth inspecting the thermocouple and gas valve for wear, since these parts work together and often age at a similar rate.
