When a pellet stove starts running hotter, smokier, or less efficiently than usual, a heat exchanger clogged with fly ash is often the reason. The Enviro Heat Exchanger Scraper Rod (part 50-2966) replaces the worn scraper rod in compatible Enviro pellet stoves, restoring the tool used to clear ash buildup from the exchanger tubes. It fits 2 compatible models on record.
This rod sits behind the top louvers, just above the door, and is pulled up and down to knock loose fly ash that collects on the heat exchanger tubes.
Only operate the rod when the stove is completely cold, and access it by tipping up and pulling out the middle two louvers. Avoid forcing the rod if it resists sliding — a bent rod or a stuck scraper plate inside the firebox is the usual cause, and regular use every few burns helps prevent buildup that leads to poor performance.
When replacing this rod, it is worth inspecting nearby burn pot and igniter components for ash buildup or wear, since all three affect how cleanly the stove burns pellets.
