Connecting the stainless steel liner to the back of the firebox depends on a tight, well-sealed joint, and that's what this angled flue collar assembly is built to do. The Enviro Angled Flue Collar with Gasket (part 50-1565) replaces the worn collar and gasket at this connection point in compatible Enviro wood inserts.
The collar attaches the liner to the firebox and, together with the gasket, keeps flue gases and creosote moving up the chimney system rather than leaking into the surrounding masonry cavity.
Inspect the gasket material closely when replacing the collar. A gasket that has flattened, cracked, or pulled away from the collar can allow combustion gases to escape into the room instead of exiting through the chimney, so it's worth replacing at the first sign of wear rather than waiting.
While you have the firebox open, check the door rope gasket and any other seals in the Rope Gaskets & Door Seals category for the same wear signs, since they age at a similar rate and are easiest to address together.
