Cracked or badly sooted logs in a Westley firebox are a sign the ceramic log set has reached the end of its service life, since uneven burn patterns and heavy soot buildup point to deterioration rather than dirt alone. This eight-piece ceramic log set, part 50-3728 from Enviro, is the full replacement log arrangement for the Enviro Westley gas stove, with each log numbered and positioned on specific burner pan pins or notches to keep the flame pattern correct.

What's in the kit

• 8 individually numbered ceramic logs, Log #1 through Log #8, each locating on a burner pan pin or notch per the Westley manual's installation figures

When to replace it

Enviro's manual calls for a yearly check of the logs for deterioration or heavy soot; a light coating of soot underneath is normal, but cracked, crumbling, or badly sooted logs are a sign the set needs replacing.

Fit

• Fits the Enviro Westley gas stove

Installation

Let the appliance cool completely before handling or replacing the log set, since the logs are fragile and should be checked for damage before they go back in.
