The Enviro Maxx (MAXX-1/MAXX-B) and Enviro Omega pellet stoves use this slider damper plate, part 50-1644, to set the combustion air for proper burn. On the Maxx it sits on the left side of the stove and is set at installation by a qualified technician or installer, since it directly controls the airflow that shapes the flame. This is the plate only, with no hardware.
A tall, lazy flame with dark orange tips means too little air, while a short, brisk flame like a blowtorch means too much. A properly set damper produces a bright yellow-orange, active flame with no black tips, and Enviro's Maxx-1 manual notes the slider should be adjusted if poor-quality pellets build up clinkers, overflow the burn pot, or if the fire goes out on the lowest heat setting.
Let the appliance cool completely before working on it, and have the slider damper set by a qualified technician or installer.
