A door that no longer latches snugly, or a handle that wobbles or feels loose at the pivot, usually means the handle assembly is worn out. The Enviro Boston Door Handle (part 50-2393) replaces the worn handle assembly on newer Enviro Boston wood stoves and wood inserts.
This handle assembly operates the firebox door, giving access for loading and tending the fire while keeping the door closed tightly against the gasket when latched.
When tightening the mounting nut inside the firebox, snug it down just enough to hold the assembly steady. Overtightening can make the handle stiff to operate, while a properly adjusted handle helps the door close evenly and keeps combustion air where it belongs instead of leaking smoke around the seal.
While replacing this handle, it's worth inspecting the door gasket and latch mechanism for wear, since both work together with the handle to keep the firebox sealed.
